The NSCDA is expanding its microcredential options to include selected NSCDA training programs, giving career development professionals more flexible ways to grow, recognize, and promote their skills.
What is a microcredential?
A microcredential is a short, focused learning experience that verifies a specific skill, area of knowledge, or competency. They are designed to be flexible, practical, and aligned with the real-world needs of both learners and employers.
NSCDA microcredentials are offered in three levels:
-
Organized Learning (not assessed): Recognition for structured participation in learning.
- Assessed Microcredential: Verification of applied skills demonstrated through assessment.
- Certificate Level: A more in-depth credential earned through a defined series of learning activities.
Why microcredentials?
- Professional recognition: Highlight verified skills for employers and community partners.
- Flexible learning: Build knowledge at your own pace and in manageable steps.
- Lifelong learning: Continue developing skills throughout your career.
-
Stackable pathways: Combine microcredentials toward larger qualifications.
- Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL): Use targeted microcredentials to address specific learning gaps and build on existing strengths.
These additions support NSCDA’s ongoing commitment to accessible, meaningful professional development for Nova Scotia’s career development community.
