Help clients surface their strengths and move with confidence. EMPOWERED: The Portfolio Career is a seven-module, reflective, skill-building program that guides participants to mine life and work experiences, name their competencies, set goals, and plan future transitions. Outcomes include stronger job search skills, greater career mobility—and meaningful personal growth.
Training at a Glance
Who: 10–12 career development practitioners from across Nova Scotia (previous facilitation experience required)
What: Eight sessions—an orientation plus the seven program modules—led by facilitators Darlene Porter and Lisa Strong
Where: Primarily via Zoom, with one full-day in-person session (weather permitting) at the NSCDA offices in Halifax
When:
- In person (full day): Tuesday, January 13 (weather permitting)
- ZOOM Sessions: Tuesdays, 9:30 a.m.–12:00 p.m: Jan 20; Feb 3, 10, 24; Mar 3, 10
- ZOOM Session: Wednesday Feb 18 only, 9:30 a.m.–12:00 p.m
- Back-up date: Tuesday, March 24
Why: Graduates will be equipped to deliver portfolio development with groups or integrate exercises into one-to-one practice. A sustained “portfolio mindset” will inform their work going forward.

Selected participants will be asked to commit to all dates and confirm organizational approval.
Cost: No fee. Travel for the in-person session is the responsibility of the individual / organization.
