The Diversity and Inclusion Program

The Diversity and Inclusion Program

The Centre for Employment Innovation (CEI) is working with the Employment Nova Scotia Division of Labour and Advanced Education, NSCDA, and stakeholders of the NSW employment services system to develop and implement a program to improve diversity, equity and inclusion principles and practices.

The program supports NSW employment service providers in strengthening their knowledge and skills in diversity, equity and inclusion practices. Seventeen African Nova Scotians and People of African Descent (ANS/PAD) have been hired across the province to help provide employment services to Nova Scotians. The goal is for all to achieve their professional designation as Certified Career Development Practitioners (CCDP). ANS/PAD individuals face systemic barriers to employment. This hiring will help Nova Scotia Works centres better reflect the communities in which they serve.

NSCDA will provide training and mentorship support to the 17 new-hires to enable them to achieve their professional certification (CCDP) within three years.
